Dr. Gayle Schueller is 3M’s Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. Gayle started in 3M’s corporate laboratory as a product development engineer and has over 30 years of technical and business leadership experience. Her career spans a broad range of businesses from electronics to healthcare to consumer industries. She has led technical and business teams from around the world including Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America.

Gayle’s previous assignments include Vice President of New Platforms for Growth and Commercialization, Directora General for 3M Mexico, and Vice President of Research & Development and Design for 3M’s Consumer and Office Business.

She is passionate about making a positive impact in the world through science and technology.

The Power of Global Perspective: Cultural Intelligence in Business Transformation and Operational Excellence

Dumi Martinez is the CFO of Mars Global Services (MGS), the global business services division of Mars, Incorporated. As CFO, Dumi oversees all strategic financial initiatives across Mars, including integration services, global portfolio management, and business development. His leadership is instrumental in actualizing the MGS OGSM and the success of the MGS finance team and its business partners. Dumi started his career at Mars in 2020 as the CFO of KIND and subsequently assumed the role of Global CFO, Health and Wellness, overseeing finance and strategy of this new division within Mars Snacking, which, under his leadership, reached $1.1 billion in sales across North America, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Asia in 2022. During his tenure, Dumi played a pivotal role in the integration of acquisitions such as KIND North America, Nature’s Bakery, and TrüFrü. Before joining Mars, he served as the CFO for Essity’s Professional Hygiene and Americas business units. Dumi earned his degrees in international management from Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico. Dumi is passionate about spending time with his family, coaching and mentorship, and travel. To date, he’s traveled to 67 countries (and counting)!

Promoting Quality Excellence and Cultivating a Culture of Proactive Operations

Søren Thuesen Pedersen is Senior Director, External Affairs, Regulatory Policy and Intelligence at Novo Nordisk. He is a Chemical Engineer by education and has been working 30 years in Novo Nordisk. During that that time he has been engaged and lead different areas within Manufacturing, QC-Laboratory and CMC Manufacturing Development. He has been one of the founding fathers of the Novo Nordisk External Requirements’ Process; How does Novo Nordisk ensure compliance of new external requirements? Mr. Pedersen is currently responsible for the External Representation and Advocacy strategy out of Novo Nordisk’s GMP&Q area and represents Novo Nordisk in various associations ISPE, EFPIA, IFPMA and BIO. Specifically, Mr. Pedersen is a member of the EFPIA Manufacturing Quality Expert Group (MQEG) since 2019 and member of the Board of Directors in IQ Consortium.

He has furthermore been member of the Novo Nordisk Board of Directors for 12 years as an elected employee representative.

His spare time interests include Danish and EU Politics.

Martin P. Müller joined Novo Nordisk in 2014 and currently directs development projects for innovative technologies within Aseptic Manufacturing, with particular focus on formulation, filling, wash & sterilization, and environmental monitoring.

Before moving to production in Novo Nordisk, Mr. Müller has served 10 years in Device R&D, driving the digital agenda of the area, external affairs and QMS-processes and project management, among others.

Mr. Müller earned his Master of Arts from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany, and his Master of Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

How to Reset the Pharma Trajectory: From Profit to Patient-Centric

Andrew “Andy” Ramelmeier, Ph.D. is Adverum’s chief technology officer responsible for leading the company’s technology and operations organization, including process development and manufacturing. Dr. Ramelmeier has more than 30 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals, including monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, gene and cell therapy products and therapeutic proteins. Most recently, Dr. Ramelmeier served as executive vice president, head of technical operations at Sangamo Therapeutics, where he was responsible for quality, process and analytical development, manufacturing and supply chain of viral vector and cell therapy pipeline products, as well as the oversight of two internal GMP facilities and multiple contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs)/contract research organizations (CROs) for manufacturing and quality control (QC) activities. Prior to Sangamo, Dr. Ramelmeier served as senior vice president, technical operations at Portola Pharmaceuticals, responsible for the process development, technology transfer, manufacturing, and supply chain of small and large molecule pipeline products. Before that, Dr. Ramelmeier held positions of increasing responsibility at several companies, including BioMarin Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson and Merck Research Laboratories.

Dr. Ramelmeier earned his B.E.S. in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. He conducted post-doctoral work at The Institute of Enzyme Technology affiliated with the Heinrich-Heine-University of Dusseldorf.

Transparency and Collaboration as a Competitive Edge: Earning Consumer Trust Through Visible and Controlled Supply Chains

Sara Mortimore is the former Vice President and Global Subject Matter Expert for Food Safety at Walmart Inc. In this role, Sara was responsible for the global development and oversight of all Food Safety programs and initiatives for the company’s more than 10,500 stores, manufacturing facilities, distribution, and fulfilment centers. A proud accomplishment was leading the team to be awarded the IAFP Black Pearl Award in 2024.

Prior to joining Walmart in May 2019, Sara held the position of Vice President of Product Safety, Quality and Regulatory Affairs with enterprise-wide responsibility at Land O’Lakes, Inc. In this capacity, she covered both human and animal foods and supported non-profit international development work.

Sara began her career with Glaxo SmithKline as a Research Technologist in Research & Development. In 1989, she joined Grand Metropolitan Foods, which later became Pillsbury and was subsequently incorporated by General Mills Inc. Here she led food safety, quality, and regulatory teams throughout international markets, including support of brands such as Haagen Dazs, Wanchai Ferry, Old El Paso, and Green Giant.

She is the co-author of several successful books, chapters and papers on HACCP and food safety management. Sara has served on the board of trustees for the Royal Society of Public Health, for the BRC International Advisory Board, and is a past member of the Global Food Safety Initiative Steering Committee.

Prior to joining Walmart, Kyle also held various positions at JB Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

Kyle earned his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University. Outside of work, he is actively involved in the Cancer Challenge as a member of its board of directors. Kyle and his wife are proud parents to three young children.
